Iconography Overview
Icons allow us to communicate our offerings quickly and efficiently across our marketing materials, products, and website. Solutions, capabilities, use cases, and more can all be symbolized by our icons.
Sonatype icons are sourced from a specific library and are styled based off of hexagonal structures that relate to the Sonatype logo to create a distinct and ownable style.
New icons should only be created to serve a clear purpose:
- Communicate our product categories, strategy, and values
- Enhance navigation
- Communicate hero product features
and benefits
All new icons must be approved by the Sonatype brand team.

Our graphics helps us to develop and build a visual style for our brand. Shown at right are some things to avoid when applying graphics to layouts.
Imagery
Sonatype imagery is used primarily in content and seen pervasively in resource hubs on our website.
Portraiture should be studio lighting quality with subhects wearing professional attire and with approachable expressions. People can be used on solid color backgrounds, on patterns (On Color: Outline versions only), and on hex shape crops.
When more visual context is needed to communicate a specific industry, job role, or other concept, stock imagery can treated with color overlays that tie in our brand color.
