Inc. magazine today ranked Sonatype on its 31st annual Inc. 500|5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The list represents the most comprehensive look at America’s independent entrepreneurs, one of the most important segments of the economy. Sonatype, the Component Lifecycle Management leader debuts on the list at #451 and joins well-known companies such as Microsoft, Zappos, Intuit, Jamba Juice and Oracle to gain early exposure as members of the Inc. 500|5000.
“Sonatype is addressing a gaping hole in the way modern software is developed," said Wayne Jackson, CEO of Sonatype. “Our inclusion on the Inc. 500 list is a testament to the shifting software development landscape from custom-written software applications to component-based assembly of applications – and the need for greater control, visibility and management of externally sourced, open-source components. Sonatype is uniquely positioned to become a must-have technology used by every development team and organization throughout the world.”
The most competitive crop in the list’s history, the 2012 Inc. 500 will be unveiled in the September issue of Inc. magazine, available on newsstands and on Inc.com beginning Aug. 21. To make the cut, companies had to have achieved a staggering minimum of 770 percent in sales growth. The Inc. 500’s aggregate revenue is $15.7 billion, with a median three-year growth of 1,431 percent. The companies on this year's Inc. 500 employ more than 48,000 people and generated over 40,000 jobs in the past three years.
“Now, more than ever, we depend on Inc. 500|5000 companies to spur innovation, provide jobs and drive the economy forward,” said Eric Schurenberg, Editor of Inc. magazine. “Growth companies, not large corporations, are where the action is.”
