Responsible, articulate, smart Java software developer
We are a fully-funded startup with major customers seeking key engineers on a highly-visible project. The money and equity are good, and the team is excellent. We are geographically distributed (no one is outsourced) and use lightweight processes, if any. Everyone is essential, decisions are collaborative, roles change as needed, the work gets done, and the customers are happy.
To thrive you must be able to take responsibility and exercise authority; to spot, define, and refine issues and solutions; to take and give direction; to teach and to learn; and to take care of yourself and of others as need be. That means you have to adapt to different roles and be able to drive development from a customer's perspective.
You must be an excellent Java programmer. We don't care how many buttons you push or buzzwords you throw. You have to be able to understand technical issues deeply and independently, so we can rely on you for major bits of work. Learning new API's, prototyping, debugging, profiling -- you should have no doubts about how to identify and solve problems in Java, even if you don't know the subject area.
This position is ideal for a mature, senior, or principal engineer who appreciates the work/life balance possible when working from home and when working with a good team. We might also bring up exceptional people with less experience.
If you are interested, please email, inlining a text resume. All team members are free to choose Eclipse as an IDE, so include that in your subject. We welcome a short paragraph saying concretely what your ideal job would be and why. Honesty most welcome.
Thanks for your time, and happy hunting!
