Wayne Jackson
Wayne is the CEO of Sonatype. Prior to Sonatype, Wayne was the CEO of Sourcefire (NASDAQ: FIRE), where he guided the company through its 2007 IPO. Prior to Sourcefire, he was the CEO and co-founder of Riverbed Technologies which was acquired for approximately $1 billion by Aether Systems in March of 2000. Wayne currently serves as an advisor to and Board member of a number of the Washington, DC region’s fastest growing companies.
Jason van Zyl
Jason van Zyl is CTO and Founder of Sonatype, and the founder of the Apache Maven project, the Plexus IoC framework, and the Apache Velocity project. He has been involved with the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) for seven years, helped to found Codehaus, a well respected incubation facility for open source community projects, and is a frequent speaker at many major software conferences, including JavaOne, EclipseCon, EmergingTech, and ApacheCon.
Jason has more than ten years of enterprise software development experience. He founded Periapt, a company that provided software infrastructure development services to Fortune 500 companies such as Toyota Corp., Bank of America, and Coca-Cola Co. Previous to Periapt, he worked as a Technology Architect at Compusense, a world leader in sensory analysis and data research.
Sameer Gandhi
Sameer is a partner at Accel Partners and focuses on consumer Internet, software and services investments. He currently works with the teams of Collective Media, Dropbox, Quidsi (parent of diapers.com and soap.com) and StumbleUpon.
Prior to joining Accel Partners, Sameer was a partner with Sequoia Capital, where he led venture capital and growth equity investments in software, Internet, digital media, SaaS, and security companies. He was responsible for investments such as Barracuda Networks, Dropbox, eHarmony, Gracenote (acquired by Sony), Sourcefire (FIRE), and Trulia. Sameer was previously a Principal at Broadview, an investment banking firm specializing in technology mergers and acquisitions, and he also held technical field sales and consulting positions at Oracle.
Sameer has a BSEE and MSEE from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Ann Winblad
Ann Winblad is the co-founder and a Managing Director of Hummer Winblad Venture Partners. She is a well-known and respected software industry entrepreneur and technology leader. Her background and over 30 years of experience in the software industry have been chronicled in many national business and trade publications.
Ann began her career as a systems programmer at the Federal Reserve Bank. In 1976 Ann co-founded Open Systems, Inc., a top selling accounting software company, with a $500 investment. She operated Open Systems profitably for six years and then sold it for over $15 million. Prior to co-founding Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, Ann served as a strategy consultant for prestigious clients such as IBM, Microsoft, Price Waterhouse, and numerous start-ups. In addition, Ann has co-authored the book Object-Oriented Software and has written articles for numerous publications. Ann received a BA in mathematics and in business administration from the College of St. Catherine, as well as an MA in education and international economics from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota. Ann also has an honorary Doctorate of Laws from the University of St. Thomas.
Ann has served as a Director of numerous start-up and public companies and currently serves as a director of Ace Metrix, Karmasphere, Krillion, MuleSoft, Sonatype, Star Analytics and Voltage Security. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of St. Thomas. Ann is an advisor to numerous entrepreneur groups, as well as co-chair of SD Forum www.sdforum.org.
Paul Levine
Paul is a Venture Partner with Morgenthaler Ventures. Before joining Morgenthaler in 1998, Paul was the founding CEO of Atria Software where he built a software business that developed, distributed, and supported a high-end configuration management system for large software development teams. Paul took Atria public in 1994, and merged it with Pure Software in 1996. Pure Software ultimately merged with Rational in 1997 before Rational was acquired by IBM.
Prior to Atria, Paul spent 8 years at Apollo Computer, and before that several years at Prime Computer. At Morgenthaler, Paul has been involved in a wide range of information technology companies. He has worked with Aptis Communication (an access box company acquired by Nortel), NBX (an IP telephony company acquired by 3COM), BlueGill (an electronic bill presentment company acquired by CheckFree), and WebSpective (a Website management system company acquired by Inktomi).
He currently serves on the boards of CLK Design Systems, foonz, Fiber Optic Network Solutions Corporation, Sionex Corporation, Sonatype and Stargen Technologies. Paul received SB and SM degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
